I wonder why roses have thorns?
Roses originally grew in areas where there were large numbers of herbivores roamed, such as Rabbits, Cows and many more plant eating animals. Many animals like saccharine tasting food. Therefore the rose bush is instant prey. The roses have to protect themselves and the thorns are perfect for the occupation. Also thorns make the plant much stronger.
